Results from the January 11th Partridge Lake Tournament hosted by Weyauwega-Fremont High School Fishing Team !
Teams battled a cold day on the lake with gusty winds but were still able to put some great fish on top of the ice! Congrats to all the big fish winners! Top Perch: 1. Cole Schanke, Hortonville - 11.75" - Caught at 9:50 a.m. (tiebreaker was time caught) 2. Isiah Schuh, Weyauwega-Fremont - 11.75" - Caught at 9:54 a.m. 3. EARLY BIRD BORDER BATTLE - OPEN WATER TOURNAMENT - 4/27/2019
MENOMINEE RIVER & BAY OF GREEN BAY, WI
On Saturday, April 27th the Marinette Fishing Team hosted the 3rd Annual Early Bird High School fishing Tournament. This year 25 teams from 9 different schools competed in the tournament. A total of 91 participants competed and teams comprised of both high school students and adult advisers. A total of 61 Walleyes, 38 Northern Pike, and 23 Brown Trout were registered at the weigh-in, which was held at Nestegg Marine. After the weigh-in, a dinner and door prize raffle was held at the Marinette Elks Club. A huge thank you goes out to Aric Schultry, Tom Lawson, Jay Eastman, Members of the M&M Great Lakes Sport Fisherman’s Club, boat captain advisors, Heads Up Taxidermy, Todd Schoen, U.P. Skullz, Wisconsin DNR, Nestegg Marine, and the Marinette Elks Club. Thank you to community members who also donated gifts for our door prize raffle! The 2018 Jim Hudson Memorial Battle on the Bay featured 19 participating high schools and 22 teams total! The Top Ten teams received trophies.
1st Place Prairie Farm HS 2nd Place Colfax HS 3rd Plac Wausaukee 4th Place Drummond Purple 5th Place Eau Claire North HS Blue 6th Place Wausaukee HS Red 7th Place Neenah HS 8th Place Ashland HS 2 9th Place Ashland HS 1 10th Place Drummond Gold There were lots and lots of fish caught, including some teams dialing in on some trout. Lots of Lakers, Browns, Splake and even one King salmon was caught and released. Many Perch, Pumpkinseed, Whitefish and Northern Pike were caught in big supply, including one very big Mud Puppy that took a tip up. Incredible ice and weather allowed students to move around and fish some new areas. Thanks to the Ashland Elks Club, River Rock and Anglers all for their support and Tommy Hicks for sharing his incredible knowledge of the bay to all the students and coaches Friday night. And a special Thank You to Jeremy Walworth and the Wisconsin Army National Guard for Pizza Friday night and Breakfast Saturday morning as well as the use of their facilities for sleeping and for our tournament headquarters and the ten beautiful trophies. KETTLE MORAINE TIP UP EXTRAVAGANZA = huge success. 17 schools, 250 kids. poor fishing conditions with 50 degree temp drop in 2 days but every team caught fish. We had a blast and smiled as we left the lake after a safe day with friends. Thank you everyone for making this possible. Average inches per kid in fish caught.
